DACHSHUND ALLURE

Once at the mercy of flippant cartoonists and the target of unkind ridicule, Dachshunds have long since turned the tables.  The 'hot-dog' image has run its course and today two-dog-long and half-a-dog-high basks in the sunshine of public affection.  The Dachshund has steadily remained in the top ten breed registrations with the American Kennel Club.

The Dachshund is as delightful in the role of country gentleman as he is in being a city apartment dweller.  The Dachshund is a loyal household companion with an innate desire to please, complimented by a lively intelligence & a  remarkably retentive memory.  The Dachshund seems to sense , like a well mannered child, when to be seen  and not heard.

The Dachshund despises dirt and slumminess.  Like a cat, he will frequently clean himself with his tongue.   Doggy odor is nonexistent.

Dachshunds have a passion for motoring.  In fact , it is only matched by their passion for food.  Dachsies take a dim view of people who never drop crumbs.  They are con artists when it comes to begging and they may manage to convince you that they are constantly starving.
